The aim of the present study was to study the effectiveness of group cognitive –behavioral therapy on social competence and happiness of high school students. The method was experimental with pre-test and post-test design. The study sample included all female high school students in the 2014-2015 academic year. 40 female students were selected by multistage random sampling method and assigned in to tow groups randomly. The instruments were the social competence questioner (Flener, 1990) and Oxford Happiness scale (1989) which were presented to the both experimental and control groups. Experimental group provided with 8 sessions (90 minutes) with group cognitive behavior therapy. Findings through the analysis of covariance indicated the differences between two groups in social competence and happiness. On the whole, the findings indicated the role and importance of groups cognitive- behavioral therapy in increasing student’s social competence and happiness.
