Determination the role of learning styles and learning strategies in the academic achievement of students in Tehran University campus social and behavioral sciences

Abstract

The aim of this study was to determination the role of learning styles and learning strategies in students' academic achievement in Tehran university, The research method is descriptive -correlational and study population consisted of all students in Tehran University campus social and behavioral sciences. Cochran formula was used to determine the sample size and the number of 363 persons were selected as the selection method was stratified. To questionnaires Kolb learning style and learning strategies questions Weinstein was used Cronbach's alpha coefficient was 0.87 and 0.83 respectively and Average last term the students were used to measure academic achievement. Results show that accommodation style and assimilation style has a positive relationship with elaboration strategy, accommodation style has a negative relationship with comprehension strategy and assimilation style has a significant positive relationship with comprehension strategy (p
